Students at Risk

Monitoring Tutorial Attendance

Monitoring of tutorial and seminar attendance is compulsory for all undergraduate students. This process forms a key element of the School’s ‘Student at Risk’ policy because poor attendance at tutorial and seminars is often an early indication a student is encountering problems of an academic or personal nature that may affect his/her capacity to perform to the best of their ability.

Tutorial attendance is formally assessed at Week 6 and Week 12 of semester. During Week 7 of Semester Advisers of Studies will write to any student who has missed two or more tutorials/ seminars during Weeks 1-6. Advisers will send letters to the students’ term-time and home addresses. Tutorial attendance will be monitored again for Weeks 7-12 with follow up meetings requested if necessary.
