Sylvie joined the School of Law at Queen’s in September 2008. She holds an undergraduate law degree from the University of Aix-en-Provence (2001) and a LLM from the University of Nottingham (2002). She completed a PhD thesis at the University of Bristol on the right of the child to religious freedom in international law (2006). While doing her PhD she also taught at undergraduate level and did some consultancy work for the OSCE. From 2006-2008 she was a City Solicitors’ Educational Trust lecturer at the University of East London. She is an editorial board member for Religion & Human Rights: An International Journal (Brill) and a case note editor for the Oxford Journal of Law and Religion (OUP). In 2013 she was awarded a small grant by the British Academy to investigate ‘Religious employers who discriminate: the French legal response’.

Research Interests

My main research interests are within human rights law. I am interested in the protection of religious liberty, children’s rights, minority rights and freedom of expression.
