The School of Law is pleased to highlight the AHSS BOOST Your Skills Award 2025–26, an excellent opportunity for students to secure £250 in funding to support skills development activities taking place across the UK or Republic of Ireland.

Formerly known as the Local Skills Development Award, the BOOST Award is designed to help you enhance your academic experience, professional skills, and career prospects. Whether you are planning to attend a short course, undertake voluntary work, participate in a conference, or gain practical experience through a placement, this fund can help support your goals.

  • Be based in the UK or ROI
  • Support your learning, employability, or future career

Activities may include:

  • Unpaid placements or voluntary work
  • Short courses, training programmes, or workshops
  • Academic conferences
  • Other activities that clearly develop your professional or academic skills

  • Award value: £250 (£175 on approval, £75 after completion)
  • Applications close: Monday 2 March 2026
  • Decisions issued: Tuesday 31 March 2026
  • Payments made: End of April 2026

Application Notes

  • You must submit an academic approval letter and proof of booking.
  • A minimum score of 25 is required under the award’s scoring matrix.
